Most people had already left the mosque after praying the congregational jumaah prayer. We were also about to leave when we were stopped by an MSS official who informed us that a woman wanted to speak with the females. We were lead to the far end of the females section in the masjid where some ladies were already waiting. We joined them and waited for a short while then a tall dark skinned woman draped from head to toe in a brown veil walked towards us. She said her salam when she approached us. She sat on the rubber chair that was kept in between the mats. She greeted us again. On a closer look, she looked like she was in her mid twenties if not younger. I had expected someone older because they had experienced life a whole lot more.Nonetheless, I was curious to hear what she had to say.
"First I sincerely apologize for coming unannounced. I didn't plan to stay here for long but my trip had to get extended so I decided to make wise use of the time. My name is Farhat and I am twenty two years old. I was born in to a very wealthy family. I had never experienced any hardship whatsoever. I was loved and pampered. I guess that made me oblivious to reality. I assumed that the whole world was-well-innocent like myself. I returned to the country after I finished my degree few years ago.I might have gone back to further my education but I met the love of my life," She smiled as she stared in to the distance."I was at that stage in my life when getting married was the order of the day. The more I listened to my peers discuss it the more the desperation in me increased.
Then one beautiful morning I ran in to someone while taking my morning walk. We had the most reasonable conversation than I had ever had with a guy in forever. He was sensible, religious calm and collected. We had connected since that first meeting and somehow everything just fell in to place. The more I got to know him the more goodness I saw in him. I had suggested that we get tested in the hospital but he declined. He claimed there was no need since we both knew our genotype and we were compatible. I gushed about him to friends and family-Something I'm glad I did. My father immediately seeked an audience with him and the marriage preparations began.
I was ecstatic just like any bride. I had all made my dresses made, booked my make up artists and done all the preparations.
The most shocking discovery came just two days to our wedding....to be contined...
